Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School is picking up the baton on a new fundraiser.
Today, the school kicked off its first run of Relay For Life, raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Student Organizer Megan Evans says it took quite a bit of work to bring the 12-hour event together.
Over 150 students are involved in this first run, taking shifts to walk around the track behind the school until 10:00pm.
Evans says they have a goal of raising $10,000 and by mid-day, they were only a few thousand dollars shy of that mark.
She says the school will now be taking part annually in the Relay For Life event.
You can still make a donation to the students by stopping by the field up until 10:00pm or going here.
