OPP is reminding drivers in cottage country to stay safe and buckle up.
Over the Easter long weekend, the OPP is saying it will be launching a seatbelt blitz in order to crack down on drivers who seem to not bother buckling up. OPP detachment officer, Samantha Bigley says they work hard all year-long to ensure people are driving safely, but from March 30th – April 2nd, seat belt compliance will be the top priority.
OPP is reminding all drivers and passengers to be properly restrained within a vehicle, regardless of how short the trip is.
Bigley says this project is intended to keep people in cottage country safe especially over a holiday weekend.
OPP is also reminding drivers that they are responsible for ensuring all passengers under 16 years of age are using a seatbelt or a proper child safety seat.
