A petition to keep two hospital sites in Muskoka is making the rounds in the community. Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller has created the petition to send to the Legislature, saying it’s a way for people in the area to voice their frustration that they aren’t being listened too.
Miller says he will directly present to the Legislature as many times as he’s able before the end of the session. Miller says this is an issue he has been hearing a lot about from the community.
You can print a copy of the petition off and take a signed copy to either Miller’s office in Bracebridge, at 165 Manitoba Street, or town hall in Huntsville. He says he has to present the original signed petition at Queen’s Park, so he’ll pick up the copies and bring them to the province.
This comes as the community has expressed frustration over hospital redevelopment talks. Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare has a task force looking at three options for the hospitals; having two acute care sites similar to how it works now, designating inpatient and outpatient services at each location, or moving to a one-site model. The task force is ranking all three options and will send its recommendation to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for approval. There’s no word on a timeline for that recommendation.
