Baseball Facility Renovation Plan Returned to Committee

A planned renovation and upgrade to the town of Huntsville ’s baseball diamonds may have struck out.

Initially, the recommendation had been for a $2.2 million dollar renovation to the McCulley Robertson Recreation Complex and staff were getting ready to send out tender documents.

But at the Town’s General Committee meeting on Monday, the item was deferred for further consideration at the general committee level.

The nearly thirty-year-old facility is in need of new fencing, infields, lights, and a list of general maintenance issues.

Mayor Scott Aitchison had met with representatives from various stakeholders that use the facility in an attempt to fine-tune the facilities needs.

A decision on whether to actually spend the $2.2 million dollars will likely not be made until after the new council is in place following the October 22nd election.
