Huntsville couple wins lease and retail prize in Peterborough

A pair of Huntsville business owners have won free retail space in downtown Peterborough.

Jonathan and Celine MacKay own the eco-lifestyle retail store Sustain in Huntsville. They entered the Peterborough-based entrepreneurial competition against a number of other prospective businesses and came out on top at the grand finale of Win This Space 2019,  last night.

The prize is worth $40,000 and includes a free lease for a downtown retail space.

It is the third year for the competition which is run by the Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area. It is run in partnership with Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development, Community Futures Peterborough, and Shorelines Casino Peterborough.

Seven judges evaluated the ten applicants, giving Sustain top marks for their business and it’s eco-friendly message.

The MacKays have a choice of six vacant storefronts and will also receive a number of prizes that will help them open their new location this spring.
