The Gravenhurst Fire Department responded to an early morning blaze near Sparrow Lake.
Crews from Station 1 and 2 responded after 8:00am to a property just off southbound Highway 11 south of the Sparrow Lake exit.
An outbuilding that appeared to be used as a garage had burned through the roof. Crews were monitoring it two hours later, with the Fire Department Twitter feed reporting an oil fire was being allowed to burn rather than risk contamination of groundwater.
… more info as it becomes available.
The fire is under control, used oil being allowed to burn off rather than risk contamination of ground water – MOE+CC advised. Crews are safe; fire not considered suspicious at this time.#Hwy11 sb still down to 1 lane south of Sparrow Lake Rt D – please slow to keep us all safe! https://t.co/3xDmjXw3zZ pic.twitter.com/Ra9cH6OjRK
