An impaired driver tried to avoid police by going the wrong way on Highway 11 in Gravenhurst.
Ontario Provincial Police said they caught the man on Saturday night around 11 pm. Apparently, police had the road closed for an unrelated incident and the driver turned around when he saw police cruisers and headed north in the southbound lanes.
Officers said they confronted the driver and temporarily stopped him before he drove over the grass median and continued north in the northbound lanes. Police chased the driver who eventually pulled over and was arrested.
The 42-year-old with no address was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, impaired driving and fleeing from the police. No word from officers on what he was impaired from.
He is scheduled to appear in court on June 25.
