Flood relief funding to be discussed at special Huntsville meeting

Huntsville, ON – Any Huntsville residents affected or concerned by the recent floods can have their voices heard at an upcoming meeting.

The town’s council is hosting a special meeting at 6 p.m. on June 12 to review this year’s flood event. It will be held at the Algonquin Theatre in Huntsville.

An online service was set up for residents to submit comments or questions on the town’s website.

A presentation by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing will follow the meeting at 7 p.m. It will provide information on who is eligible for the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontario program and how to apply. Those in attendance will have the chance to talk with ministry staff afterwards.

Anyone interested in more information about the provincial program can check out the website. The deadline to apply for assistance is August 29.
