Big Mac sales turn into $2000 for Community Living South Muskoka

GRAVENHURST, ON- The sale of Big Macs at the Gravenhurst McDonald’s has turned into a $2,000 donation for Community Living South Muskoka.

Owner Al Cumber was taking the revenue from each of the signature burgers he sold last week until June 2nd and making a donation to the community group that helps individuals with a developmental disability and their families commencing at the age of two and through to their senior years.

The restaurant was celebrating its 30th anniversary and the remodelling of the restaurant under the McCafe brand.

Store manager Chris Lewis says having staff that come from CLSM is a real boon to his workforce.

“The people in our workforce who live with a disability bring a high-level of dependability and enthusiasm and they tend to spread that work ethic to everyone on the team,” he is (paraphrased) as saying in a post on Facebook.

Cumber had already donated $5,000 to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation, which was turned into $10,000 with a matching donation from local philanthropist Brock Napier.

The local Gravenhurst council is also being thanked for raising the profile of the restaurant and its charitable works. Thanks go out to Cumber and Lewis along with Mayor Paul Kelly and Deputy Mayor Penny Varney who helped promote the fundraiser.
