Male youth in custody after ATV chase ended on HWY 400

GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP, ON – A male youth is in custody after hitting two police cruisers and several other vehicles in an ATV rampage.

OPP from the Georgian Bay detachment said in a release that they responded to a call Thursday morning about a dispute in Port Severn.

According to police, a youth fled the scene driving erratically on an ATV before they arrived. The report said he hit two responding OPP cruisers and three other pedestrian vehicles. Police said they were told he also caused some mischief at a nearby resort.

The K-9 Unit, Emergency Response Unit and Aviation Services were called in to stop the ATV, which had driven onto Highway 400. North and southbound lanes were closed for about 20 minutes from Port Severn Road to Quarry Road during the investigation.
