BRACEBRIDGE, ON – The Ontario government is putting its money where its mouth when it comes to keeping seniors healthy, both physically and socially.
The minister of seniors and accessibility, Raymond Cho, joined local MPP Norm Miller at the Muskoka Lawn Bowling Club in Bracebridge Thursday afternoon.
Cho was there to announce $9,500 in funding for the facility.
“I’m always inspired by the level of commitment and the hard work of leaders of local organizations like this one,” Cho said. “Your dedication to making a lasting difference in the everyday lives of seniors is so important.”
The funding is part of a Seniors Community Grant Program that will provide $3 million to support projects across the province.
Cho hoped the funding would help seniors get healthier through lawn bowling and help them socialize more within the community.
Miller said the money was great news for seniors and their families in Parry Sound-Muskoka.
“The funding will go a long way to help seniors in this community stay active and take part in programming they might not otherwise have access to,” Miller said. “It will also help seniors in the community stay socially connected and learn something new together.”
Cho said lawn bowling stimulates both the mind and the body, which is good for everyone.
