BRACEBRIDGE, ON – A Bracebridge family already having a tragic 2019 by losing a son has now lost their home too.
The house fire on Ann Street over the weekend has forced a family of eight to live out of a trailer. They have just a barbeque to cook with and the clothes they were wearing when they evacuated the home.
According to someone close to the family, who asked to remain anonymous, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help them out.
The woman said the family didn’t have renters insurance and lost just about everything in the blaze including pets.
The one thing they were able to save before leaving the house was the remains of their 11-year-old son, who died in a snowmobiling accident in March.
The woman said that the GoFundMe page was set up because money was already tight for the family after losing their son.
The trailer apparently isn’t suited for the winter, so the family needs a place to stay once the temperature really starts to drop.
On top of shelter and money, the woman said they need clothes because they lost everything in the fire.
She added any local businesses that want to help out by donating gift cards for food would be highly appreciated.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the GoFundMe account was at just over $700 and has a total goal of $10,000.
