Agreement reached at Muskoka seniors home

GRAVENHURST, ON – Apparently, the planned demonstration at a Gravenhurst retirement facility didn’t end up happening.

A release from the union that represents the roughly 160 front-line employees of Sienna Senior living said they would picket outside the building. The demonstration was supposed to happen on Tuesday, October 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The union said the protest was planned because the workers were owed between $500 and $1,000 in back pay from 2017.

According to a spokesperson with Sienna Senior Living, the demonstration didn’t end up happening.

“This issue was related to a collective agreement and ongoing discussions with the union,” The spokesperson said in an email MyMuskokaNOW. “The situation has been resolved and all team members are being informed of the details of the resolution.”

MyMuskokaNOW reached out to the Canadian Union of Public Employees 2481, but didn’t get a response at the time of publication.
