Manna Food Bank fall drive rally point changed due to strike

BRACEBRIDGE, ON- A local food drive is being moved due to an impending strike.

According to the organizers of the Muskoka Oldtimers Fall Food Drive for the Manna Food Bank, volunteers should head to the Bracebridge Fairgrounds at 331 Fraserburg Road at 5 p.m. this coming Tuesday.

The move to the fairgrounds is due to the permit to use the Monck Public School gym being revoked, as all schools in the Trillium Lakelands School District are set to be closed by this Monday.

“Even if a strike is averted we will still meet at the Fairgrounds,” noted organizer Doug Kamachi, in the food bank announcement.

He also said the food drive will proceed “as usual”.

Bracebridge residents are asked to gather non-perishable food items to donate to the Manna Food Bank and set them outside their doors by 5:00 pm.

Scores of Bracebridge school kids will be running door-to-door that evening collecting the food and financial donations, which will be delivered to the Food Bank.

They apologized for any inconvenience.
