HUNTSVILLE, ON – There is relief coming for Huntsville parents in the wake of schools being shutdown next week.
The town announced in a release on Friday that there will be day camps open for the duration of the strike. Schools are expected to close next week as custodians, clerical workers and teachers assistants walk off the job during their Work to Rule demonstration.
The camps will start on Tuesday, October 8 at the Canada Summit Centre, beginning at 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. The camp will be for five to 10-year-olds and will cost $36 per child per day for local residents, which increases to $39.60 for out of town families.
Parents can register online or in-person at the customer service desk at the Canada Summit Centre. The release added that if the school strike continues past Friday, October 11, parents can find additional dates on Huntsville’s website or again at the Canada Summit Centre.
Day camps will involve activities like swimming, skating, crafts, games and outdoor activities. The released reminded parents to bring their campers prepared with appropriate clothing, snacks and outdoor attire.
It also asked that kids leave their electronics at home.
