ONTARIO – The province is making it easier for low-income seniors to access dental care.
Health units are promoting the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDCP), which was announced earlier this week. According to the province, seniors have a higher risk of gum disease and oral cancer but two-thirds don’t have access to dental insurance.
To be eligible for the OSDCP, seniors have to be at least 65-years-old, can’t currently have health benefits, and make less than $19,300 a year. A couple’s combined income can’t be more than $32,200 annually.
Preventative care and treatments will be covered under the program.
Interested seniors can apply online or hard copies are available at local health units.
