Muskoka Healthy Living Expo happening in Huntsville Thursday

A health and wellness event on Thursday is the first-of-its-kind in Huntsville.

The Muskoka Healthy Living Expo will pack both floors of the Active Living Centre with 47 exhibitors from around the region.

Jenn Pfrimmer, Executive Director of host organization Muskoka Seniors, says it’s a “trade show-type event” for people to link up with services and organizations ranging from physiotherapy to sporting groups, transportation, home maintenance, and personal support workers.

“There’s so many options here in the community to help with a variety of different aids, things that people are needing, and it’s hard to know where to start,” says Pfrimmer. “It can feel incredibly overwhelming, and knowing what is available in the community changes and shifts as our needs change and shift.”

Pfrimmer notes that admission is free, and there will be refreshments and door prizes on site. She invites anyone to come by and “find out what’s in their backyard.”

“We all know somebody who could use some help or is looking to get connected, somebody who’s new to the community or looking to get more active,” says Pfrimmer. “Adult children who are balancing this work-life-caregiving role, and don’t really know where to start when it comes to caring for a loved one. So, if there’s things, we can do to make life just a little bit easier, then that’s our goal.”

The event runs from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Oct. 19 at 20 Park Drive in Huntsville.
