Fairvern asking community to join Christmas parade for residents

Huntsville’s Fairvern Nursing Home is asking the community to bring some Christmas cheer to its residents.

The Fairvern Community Parade is coming back for a second year at 2:00 p.m. this Friday.

“We’re looking for members of the community to come decorate your car, your truck, your bike if we don’t have snow, to come past the front door of Fairvern where our residents will be eagerly waiting,” says Carrie Acton, Fairvern’s administrator. “Just to spread some holiday cheer to our residents who aren’t always able to get out to see Christmas parades in the community. We thought ‘why not bring the parade to our community’?”

According to Acton, there’s no specific theme for the parade. Rather, they’re looking for anything that captures the spirit of the holidays.

“Just looking for your best Christmas decorations. If you have lights, if you have garlands, if you have tinsel, if you have someone that can dress up in a costume that would be fabulous as well,” says Acton. “So really, it’s to be as creatively Christmas as you can in decorating your vehicles.”

Acton says the lineup begins on Church Street at 1:30 p.m., and participants are asked to arrive before 1:45. She adds volunteers will be on site to get everyone to the right places.
