Graham Pollington passed away on Dec. 22 after a four-month battle with cancer.
In an update posted to the GoFundMe page created to help Pollington and his family, the Board of Directors for the Huntsville Soccer Club and Muskoka United Football Club say, “his absence will be deeply felt.”
“Graham’s passion and knowledge for the game of soccer were evident,” the update reads. “He was a strong supporter of Liverpool FC, a committed volunteer and administrator for the local soccer programs, and a dedicated referee. He embodied the qualities of an exemplary friend and role model for our youth. His quiet, selfless dedication to the Huntsville Soccer Club and the Muskoka United Football Club has left an indelible mark on our community. We are not just better players and stronger teams, but greater individuals because of his friendship, coaching contributions and guidance. His impact transcends the boundaries of the pitch.”
Pollington is survived by his wife, Sam, and daughter, Kate.
They ask for donations to be made to Hospice Huntsville.
His family says a celebration of life will be held in the spring.
Throughout his battle with cancer, hundreds of individuals and businesses supported Pollington and his family by donating to a GoFundMe to cover “medical and other expenses.” As of Thursday morning, nearly $28,000 has been raised.
