The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation has once again set a goal of $100,000 for its annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser.
From 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Feb. 24, fundraising teams will walk a two or five kilometre route from the non-profit’s building at 9 Hanes St., wrapping up with a “bistro supper.”
“Coldest Night of the Year is our key fundraiser. We have been doing it for 12 years now and we rely on the funds coming in year after year,” says Heather Cassie, The Table’s founder. “Without it things would be very different at The Table, so we are very much looking forward to being able to continue this fundraiser year after year.”
According to Cassie, funds raised go into The Table’s general fund to pay for its programs and services. “Naturally there are bills to be paid in order to operate, but there will also be a large portion of that going to food purchases,” she says.
Cassie adds there’s no doubt in her mind that the community will pull through to hit the $100,000 goal.
“We have an amazing community, fantastic donors, great community contributors,” says Cassie. “So we feel quite confident that we’ll be able to reach that, and maybe even go above and beyond.”
You can sign up for the walk or donate via Coldest Night’s website. Gravenhurst Against Poverty will hold its own walk the same night.
