Multi-day snow squall warning continues

Environment Canada says another 10 to 15 cm of snow could fall in parts of Muskoka today.

A snow squall warning has been issued by the weather agency in our area for the second day in a row. On Wednesday, upwards of 50 centimetres of snow blanketed parts of Muskoka.

Officials with Environment Canada say there will be “significantly reduced visibility” because of the powder.

They explain a snow squall can cause the weather to turn on a dime. While it may be clear in one area, officials say there could be heavy snowfall just a few kilometres away.

With that in mind, they suggest staying at home unless venturing outside is absolutely necessary. If you do have to go out, officials say to make sure your phone is charged and to have an emergency kit with you that has all the necessities you may need if you get stranded like a blanket and snacks.

They also recommend letting others know where you’re going and when you expect to arrive.
