With only months to go until the Bracebridge Library moves into its new space at the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre (MLCC), one last party is being held at its current location at 94 Manitoba St.Â
A “Fun-Raiser” is being held on Friday, Feb. 9 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.Â
Mckenzie Barnes, marketing and communications coordinator, says the party will feature historical art for purchase honouring the 115 years of memories of Bracebridge, Muskoka, and the historic Carnegie Library building. There will also be champagne, handmade chocolate, a silent auction, and wine tasting.Â
“We’ve gone through all the of the library’s Muskoka history collection and pulled different photographs and everything in between and we’ll be offering prints to purchase,” she says.Â
There will also be a live painting of the library available for purchase.Â
Tickets cost $65 and come with a treat and a complimentary drink. Every dollar will go towards supporting the library’s move to the MLCC.Â
You can buy a ticket by visiting the library or calling 705-645-4171.Â
“We’re so excited for all the new the Coulson Family Bracebridge Library will be able to offer our community,” says Barnes.Â
She adds though it’s bittersweet to leave the Carnegie building behind, Barnes is excited to celebrate the historic structure with the community.Â
While the library will vacate the building once the MLCC opens later this year, Mayor Rick Maloney has previously said the building will be left standing, however, a decision on who may occupy the space hasn’t been made yet.Â
