Huntsville town hall was open Wednesday after a two-day closure stemming from a cybersecurity attack.
In a video posted to the town’s YouTube page, Denise Corry, chief administrative officer, says the impact of what happened is “still being assessed.”
“We will safely and slowly bring our systems back online and resume operations with limited services,” she added.
Corry suggested anyone wanting to know what is or isn’t available call 705-789-1751 or check the town’s website.
Corry explained the attack was uncovered Sunday through the town’s “network security tools and observant staff.”
She said as part of the investigation, “a number” of systems were taken offline and counter-measures were taken to prevent more unauthorized activity.
Along with the town continuing to have cybersecurity experts investigate, Corry said it has been reported “to the appropriate authorities” and said the town will cooperate with their investigation.
As part of the three-minute video, Mayor Nancy Alcock thanked the “amazing team of professionals” who supported the town in stopping the cryptic attack.
“We know this incident and the precautionary measures have impacted our community and we want to thank our residents for their ongoing patience as we continue this investigation,” she continued.
