Evelyn Archibald has been awarded the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship.
The recognition was announced Monday afternoon as part of the provincial government’s ceremony recognizing the 2021 and 2022 winners of the award.
When speaking with the MyMuskokaNow.com newsroom, Archibald called it an “honour and privilege” to be nominated along with 12 other positive-change makers.
“I’m very grateful and deeply touched that I was considered worthy of a nomination when so many people do so much,” she said.
“[Archibald] has volunteered for everything from the Muskoka Conservancy and Habitat for Humanity to the Canadian Federation of University Women and the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario,” it says in a media release from the province. “Whether helping the most vulnerable and in need, assisting those in difficult times, or enriching the community, it is done with compassion.”
“I try to say yes whenever I can but I’m also aware that I couldn’t do anything without the assistance and support of colleagues, community, family, and friends,” said Archibald.
In a post on X, Michael Ford, Ontario’s minister for citizenship and multiculturalism, thanked the nominees for their dedication.
