Tobacco, marijuana, crystal methamphetamine, and shatter (cannabis concentrate) were among the items seized at the Beaver Creek Institution in Gravenhurst.
Officials with Correctional Service Canada (CSC) say the items are worth $162,000.
They credit the “vigilance of staff members” for catching the packages in separate seizures on March 23 and 24.
CSC has a tip line for all federal institutions like Beaver Creek. Anyone with information about anything from drug use or trafficking to the safety of visitors, inmates, and staff should call 1-866-780-3784 to report anonymously.
