Plenty of athletes swimming, running, and biking around the Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst this weekend.
The Gravenhurst Triathlon and Duathlon runs from 6 a.m. until noon this Saturday and Sunday.
Officials with the Town of Gravenhurst advise to be on the lookout for participants, noting the event will likely cause delays. The traffic may also be affected by the Bay and Beyond infrastructure project happening nearby.
According to MultiSport Canada’s website, registration begins around 6 a.m. with the triathlon starting around 7:30 a.m. on the RMS Wenonah II. Athletes will swim from it to the dock at the Muskoka Wharf, run across the street with help from volunteers who will hold up traffic while participants cross.
They will hop on a bicycle and travel up and down Muskoka Rd. 169. Once they return their bikes at the Wharf, the running course will take them along North Muldrew Lake Rd. For both sections, the road will be shared with vehicles with athletes running towards traffic.
The schedule of events will be the same on Saturday and Sunday.
