UrbanLink Civil Ltd. has run into an unforeseen problem during its work on the Taylor Rd. bridge in Bracebridge.
The District of Muskoka posted on its Facebook page that an “old section of pipe” has been uncovered that needs to be removed. They explain it’s located near the Canadian National (CN) Railway track, so they need to get approval from CN before anything can be done.
“Like any renovation, once you start, you can find more things to fix,” it says in the post.
They explain the issue will force them to close both lines from Hiram St. to Woodchester Ave. “within the next two to three weeks.” They add at least 48 hours of notice will be given before the closure is put in place.
When the closure happens, it will continue for three days.
The district says more details on the closure will be shared when they become available.
However, they say newly discovered issue will force construction to continue into July.
Work on the bridge started on April 15 with rotating closures and delays put in place to allow workers to do their jobs safely.
