Port Cunnington Lodge raises $24,000 to help local organizations

A dinner and concert hosted at the Port Cunnington Lodge raised $24,000 for local groups.

The event was held in late June, and according to a video posted on social media, the money will be equally shared between the Lake of Bays Library, the Dorset Health Hub, the Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation, and the Port Cunnington Seniors Centre.

“We hope to morph into an annual event for local organizations,” said John Siddall, the lodge’s general manager.

The event featured a concert by award-winning artists Marc Jordan and Amy Sky.

Siddall added Jack and Susy Wadsworth, the lodge’s owners, were “instrumental” when he took the idea of the event to them.

“We wanted to be as community-minded as we’ve always been,” added Siddall.

Terry Glover, Lake of Bays Mayor, says some of the money will be used to help repair the chair lift at the Port Cunnington Community Center.
