Two SaveStations installed in Muskoka Lakes

A pair of automated external defibrillators (AED) have been installed at the Walker’s Point Community Centre and at the Milford Bay Community Centre.

Cory Moore, manager of parks, recreation, and facilities for the Township of Muskoka Lakes, explains the SaveStations are installed at the front door for each facility. He says an alarm will sound, a light will flash, and a picture will be taken when the cabinet housing the wall-mounted AED is opened.

When it’s taken out, Moore details how the user will be given a step-by-step guide on what to do. However, he adds, if there’s an emergency, 911 should be called before using the AED.

Muskoka Lakes’ Mayor Peter Kelley says the installation of the two devices is another step towards making the township safer.

“While I do hope there is never a need to use either of these AEDs, it is reassuring knowing they are there and available 24/7,” he says.

Three SaveStations are also installed at James W. Kerr Park in Bracebridge.
