Domino’s Pizza is hosting a Dough Raiser to help six-year-old Scarlett Seymour of Huntsville.
Scarlett was born with her liver, stomach, gallbladder, and bowels outside of her body, which prompted her to stay the first two years of her life in hospital.
Her mother, Amanda Keating-Seymour, says it’s been many struggles and many surgeries. Another major one is upcoming.
“At about seven months old, we thought we were going to lose her,” she says.
She says Scarlett is “still putting up a good fight” as she just had three major surgeries, and there’s more to come.
“Luckily, she just came off of oxygen two months ago,” adds Keating-Seymour. “That was a huge deal for our family. Having her be able to be free from one other device or apparatus.”
Keating-Seymour says she reached out to Make-A-Wish because Scarlett was hospitalized and they didn’t know what was going to happen.
“Make-A-Wish did a backyard makeover for us,” says Keating-Seymour. “Because Scarlett was not mobile as easily as some other children, they provided us with a new deck with a wheelchair accessible ramp and wheelchair accessible doors, as well as a play structure and a few other sensory items that are good for her.”
Keating-Seymour says she then reached out to Domino’s to ask for help.
Anupreet Singh, Domino’s Pizza general manager, says they agreed to help “without a second thought.”
Domino’s in Bracebridge and Orillia are offering two promotions in which 5$ will be donated to Scarlett and her family today, Aug. 7. The first is two medium three-topping pizzas and cheesy bread for $26.99 (offer code: SCAR1), and the second is two large three-topping pizzas and cheesy bread for $32.99 (offer code: SCAR2).
“By helping Scarlett, we want to let know everyone in the community that we are here to help as much we can,” adds Singh.
Keating-Seymour says they are planning to stay in Toronto at the Ronald McDonald House for Scarlett’s future surgery.
