District of Muskoka launches Demand-Responsive Transit service

The first phase of the District of Muskoka’s Demand-Responsive Transit service is live.

Officials say it’s in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

The first phase, which will run until the end of March, will start in the urban centre of Gravenhurst, with the service then expanding to the rest of Muskoka.

To book, you need to pre-register through the app Blaise on your phone or by calling the District.

It’s $5 for adults and $3 for students. Children under 12 ride free but must be accompanied by an adult.

The District says the rides are booked in advance and then fed into a system that generates routing and passenger pick-up information for the drivers.

Officials say the transit service looks to link those in rural areas to urban centres and allow them to connect to other services, such as the Corridor 11 bus.
