The Holiday Smile Cookie campaign is back, and sales at Tim Hortons in Bracebridge will be supporting the Manna Food Bank.
From Nov. 18 to 24, all proceeds from each cookie sold at Bracebridge Tim Hortons locations (295 Wellington Street and 9 Depot Drive) will help to support Manna Food Bank and Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.
Dave Johnson, Facilities Coordinator at Manna Food Bank, says they are grateful to be a part of the campaign, which will help to fight hunger in the community.
“We will be putting the proceeds towards the purchase of a walk-in cooler for our centre so that we can offer more fresh food options to our clients,” says Johnson. “All food banks in Ontario have been finding a large increase in the number of users, and this helps to feed those people.”
He adds with the new cooler, they will be able to take advantage of sales and put more food in the stockpile.
“We do buy most of our food, so it’s important that we be able to take advantage of home sales, get more fresh fruit and vegetables, serve more people, and give them better food,” shares Johnson.
Johnson says this campaign and what they make during the holidays support them year-round.
“Hunger goes 365 days a year, and it never stops,” says Johnson.
Officials say last year, the campaign helped raise $9.8 million through the inaugural Holiday Smile Cookie campaign, supporting local charities and community groups across the country, including Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.Â
