Work continues on clearing snow on closed secondary roads off of Highway 11.
That from the OPP which says there are currently six tractor trailers that remain stuck on secondary roads, “which is causing a delay in snow removal and hydro restoration efforts”.
Houseys Rapids Road, Uffington Road, Southwood Road and Beiers Road are closed. The northbound ramp at Luigi Road also remains closed at this time.
The OPP says emergency services are actively working with local residents to provide food, water and supplies and those in need are being transported to local warming centres.
Efforts are also underway to deliver fuel to gas stations affected by the snow event.
Although Highway 11 has re-opened, the OPP reminds the public to slow down, stay alert and stay in control. Plan your trip before leaving by visiting the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) website for road conditions and closures at 511on.ca.
