Trevor Redmond, best known as the Fellow in Yellow, is running across Canada for health, mobility, and recovery for all and he’ll soon be in Bracebridge.
Redmond says he left Halifax in late March and has travelled over 5,200 km since.
He adds it’s been “phenomenal”, as he almost lost his leg when he was 15 after being struck by a car.
“I spent a month and a half in the hospital. A year and a half with an open wound down to the bone,” shares Redmond.
He says everyone he meets inspires him to move on. Redmond says as a child, he used to feel “quite lonely, quite isolated” and adds having people to support and inspire him has helped him along the way.
“For me, it feels like a responsibility to go out there and try to inspire people as well who may be going through some of the same struggles I went through,” says Redmond. “What I have been doing in support of my journey is anybody that gives $10 towards my journey, I will give them a kilometre of the journey to inspire themselves or dedicate it to somebody else to inspire them,” adds Redmond.
He says he has been in communities in Canada; he did not even know they were on the map.
“I really do want to bring people up and get them out and get them excited to conquer what they need to conquer,” says Redmond. “It’s been amazing. Looking ahead, I’m not sure what’s up the road. Looking behind, I have nothing but great memories.”
