Snowmobile enthusiasts are being urged to stay off the trails in Parry Sound-Muskoka even though the region has received significant snowfall of late.
OPP Sgt. Ryan Lehr says Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club (OFSC) trails have not yet been opened to the public.
“We haven’t had a chance to properly assess what types of hazards are out there. OFSC has to prepare the trails and clear any downed trees,” he said. “Remember there may be other hazards that you are not aware of, like downed hydro lines or wire fencing in fields.”
As of Dec. 11, other than a couple of trails with “limited availability” in the Hearst area, none of the province’s 30,000-kilometer trail network is open to the public.
