Four new hospice beds are being added to Andy’s House.
Once opened, these new adult hospice beds will bring the total number of Ministry-funded beds at Hospice Muskoka to seven.
Graydon Smith, MPP of Parry Sound-Muskoka, says by more than doubling the number of funded beds at Hospice Muskoka, more families will have access to the outstanding palliative care provided by the team at Andy’s House.
Officials say this is an expansion of the province’s Your Health plan, which includes an investment of up to $19.75 million to add 84 new adult hospice beds across the province. They add when they open, the province will provide an additional up to $16.03 million per year to support the operation of these beds.Â
Donna Kearney, Executive Director of Hospice Muskoka, says the additional base funding will improve Hospice Muskoka’s financial stability and allow them to expand their programs and services, reducing the need to raise over $1m per year in donations.Â
