Update: 2:49 p.m.
A 49-year-old is dead after a multi-vehicle crash on HWY 11 this morning.
That’s according to the OPP who says officers were dispatched to the crash shortly after 9:00. The OPP says multiple people have been transported to local hospital with various injuries.
HWY 11 will remain closed for the foreseeable future as the investigation is on-going. T
he current closures in place include north bound lanes from Coldwater to HWY 400, and south bound from County Road 169 to Line 15 in Oro-Medonte.
Police are asking anyone with information or dash cam footage to contact them or crime stoppers.
Police say no state of emergency is currently declared. For those involved in the HWY 11 collision, the Rotary Place is open at 100 University Ave. in Orillia. It’s being utilized as a warming centre.

OPP officers are on scene of what they call a ‘very serious’ multi-vehicle collision on HWY 11 in Orillia that has shut down both lanes from Coldwater Rd. to Line 15.
Police say more information will be shared as it becomes available.

The OPP is asking the public to avoid all unnecessary travel on roadways where visibility and road conditions are poor.
Officials say phone apps may also be taking you down alternative roadways and routes, and they too are getting backed up and slowed down due to excessive traffic.

HWY 11 NB lanes closed from HWY400 to Coldwater Road
HWY11 SB lanes closed from CR169 to Line 15
Line 15 North closed from HWY 11 to Old Barrie Road
Old Barrie Road to Line 15 N to Memorial Avenue
Memorial Avenue from Hwy 12 to HWY 11
University Road from old Barrie Road to Diana Drive
