December’s food drive for the Salvation Army South Muskoka Ministries food bank will be happening soon.
The Town of Bracebridge says the fire department along with Muskoka Paramedic Services will be going door-to-door on Monday, March 24.
The event will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. that night. It normally takes place during the holidays but was cancelled this time around due to the weather event that affected the town.
Officials say teams will be canvassing neighbourhoods in Bracebridge’s urban areas to collect non-perishable food items.
Participants are asked to place all donations on the front porch by 6 p.m. and listen for the sirens for pickups taking place.
If you’re unable to participate, food donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army Bracebridge Community Church on Manitoba Street.
According to officials, the food bank is in need of:
- Men’s and women’s toiletries (razors, soap, shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste, tooth brushes);
- Tea and instant coffee;
- Side-kick side dish meals;
- Peanut free/school-safe snacks;
- Feminine hygiene products;
- Toilet paper;
- Peanut butter and jam; and
- Canned meats (chicken, turkey, and fish).
Officials say Volunteers are wanted. If you wish to participate in the annual event, you’re being asked to call the fire department.Â
