The snow squall warning is still in effect for most of Muskoka. Ten to 15 cm of snow is likely by this evening, according to Environment Canada. Strong winds may also bring extensive blowing snow, and possible whiteout conditions. The storm is already starting in some areas of Muskoka, and is on its way to others.
Local OPP units are reporting they are getting calls about poor visibility on local roads. Drivers are being asked to slow down and leave extra space.
The snow squall warning is in effect for:
- Bracebridge – Gravenhurst
- Huntsville – Baysville
- Port Carling – Port Severn
- Town of Parry Sound – Rosseau – Killbear Park
Update 3:30pm:
Many of the roads in the area are seeing near whiteout conditions, including Highway 11 from Barrie to South River, Highway 35 from Minden to Dwight, and Highway 400. Other roads, like Highway 60 and 118, are snow covered as it continues to fall.
There are some power outages in the area as well. Around 30 customers have lost power on North Portage Road in Huntsville, restoration time is 5:30pm. An earlier outage in Dorset has now been restored.
