After finishing fourth overall in a national skiing competition, Ashley Campbell has been named to Team Canada. The 15-year-old was chosen for the Alpine Canada team for next month’s international competition in Whistler. The Mackenzie Investments Whistler Cup pits Canadian athletes against their global competitors in the racing competition, and Campbell was one of two athletes chosen from Ontario. The team will be in Whistler on April 8th to begin training for the competition, which runs from the 12th to the 15th.
The athletes were picked based on their performance in Collingwood last weekend at nationals. The top six in their gender at the under-16 competition were chosen. Campbell raced in four competitions during the national event in Collingwood; she won twice and crashed out twice. The teenager is a Huntsville High School student and also skis out of Hidden Valley.
