Community and compassion. That’s the philosophy behind the Terence Haight grant awards that help local groups every year achieve their goals.
Administrators say this annual grant program is dedicated to the legacy of Terence Haight who was passionate about the growth of Muskoka. The Town of Gravenhurst is accepting applications for the 2019 grant funding period.
The Terence Haight Financial Assistance program was established by the Town of Gravenhurst Council to provide limited financial assistance to community groups and organizations within the municipality to assist with activities, special events or with an improvement to the organization’s existing assets.
This past March a number of groups received assistance from the fund, that was created by Terence Haight. He was considered a community-focused businessman who donated a large portion of his earnings to the Town of Gravenhurst in hopes of continued growth and prosperity.
The following groups benefited from grants this year:
- Muskoka Pride
- Sawdust City Music Festival
- Ryde Community Co-Op
- West Muskoka Ringette Association
- Gravenhurst Supper Club
- Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Muskoka.
