Bracebridge OPP arrested a man after he fled from police on Highway 11 South.
It was just after 2:00pm when officers answered a request to help a motorist. After a brief interaction the driver drove away in his mini-van.
Police followed as he exited Cedar Lane near Highway 117. He continued southbound and refused to stop for police.
A spike belt was deployed, stopping the vehicle before he got into the school zone of Macaulay Public School.
Up to four cruisers received minor damage in stopping the van.
A witness to the arrest said a number of officers tackled the suspect as he left his vehicle. Police were then seen searching the edge of Cedar Lane for a time.
Police are asking for any witnesses to contact Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
