Police seek fraudster in crime on senior

A troubling fraud in Huntsville has the OPP asking for help.

On Tuesday a man called a senior claiming to be a bank employee.

The suspect convinced the senior to go to the bank and withdraw money and then return to his home.  The fraudster then went to the man’s house and took the money.

Unlike online scams, this crime had the victim coming into contact with the thief, which has police worried.

Police are reminding people to be aware of phone and internet scams. If you have an older person in your life tell some of the stories that are happening and give advice on what to look for.

If you get any calls, emails or requests of any kind for banking information or to send money to someone you should pause, take a breath, and get in touch with that person or organization yourself to make sure it’s legitimate.

If you know the man in the pictures, police ask that you call the Huntsville OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
