There is some good news for residents in the Township of Muskoka Lakes.
It seems over the past 24 hours water levels have dropped slightly on Lake Muskoka in the one inch range.
There has been a slight increase of around an inch on Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph, while reports show things have stabilized on the Moon River.
It was also revealed that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is beginning to reduce water flows on the Muskoka watershed, north of Lake Muskoka.
“The reduction of flow from Kawagama Lake, Lake of Bays, Huntsville Lakes and Mary Lake will reduce inflows to Lake Muskoka and translate to about a 3cm per day water level decrease,” a press release from the town said.
Ann Street in Walker’s Point at 1003 Ann Street is fully closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic. This road closure will remain in effect until further notice.
The township has also received a donation of water it wants to distribute to residents who might have an unsafe water supply.
“Water is available for pick up at the Trinity All Saints Church, located at 1024 Bala Falls Road, Bala from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. until further notice. For more information, please contact, 705-641-8787.
Businesses affected by the flooding can get assistance from Muskoka Futures as they have launched a Flood Recovery Loan program.
