It is called Joan’s Long Distance Swim for Hospice. On Sunday Joy Jarvis along with a handful of friends, swam 12 kilometres on Lake Vernon and the Muskoka River. The amount of money she has raised are still being totalled.

“The conditions were a little rough going around Centreview Island,” she contended. “But had a surprise in the last two kilometres I had 21 swimmers come in with me.”

It is her eighth swim for Huntsville Hospice. She said despite what a large effort it is she would do it again.

“I’ll do it again, as long as I can possibly do it,” Jarvis said.

The swim took just under five hours and ended at the Boston Pizza docks in downtown Huntsville.
