Cannabis Muskoka aimed at education of new weed consumers

BAYSVILLE, ON – The new landscape of a Canada with the legal sale and consumption of cannabis is behind an educational expo this weekend.

Cannabis Muskoka is an event being held at the Lake of Bays Community Centre Arena in Baysville.

It’s presented by an organization called Circle of Growth seeking to provide a platform for patients, enthusiasts, consumers and industry entrepreneurs.

Amy Wray and her husband have organized the show which was originally scheduled to be at the Summit Centre, but following the Snoop Dogg concert there, the booking was cancelled. They are hoping people new to the world of cannabis and those with some knowledge but looking to get more involved find some value in the event.

“We’ve got a bunch of subjects we are going to cover,” explained Wray. “We have somebody coming in to show how to clone a plant. We have someone coming in to show us how to infuse ice cream with CBD oil.”

A number of other topics including farming hemp and the genetics of marijuana will be offered as well.

Wray says the involvement in the world of weed has come primarily through her husband Kevin, who is a stonemason by trade.

“He has had Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) all of his life,” she explained. “He is breaking down. His bones hurt, he has hit his hand with a hammer I don’t know how many times. He uses cannabis daily and It helps him function.”

She explains since marijuana became legal they have been approached by different individuals and businesses leading to the creation of Circle of Growth.

“We have been approached by so many people that are looking for information,” she explained.

They have entered a number of shows as vendors seeking to build the online community aspect of information sharing.

“It’s an online forum just for information,” Wray said. “Any kind of information we will point you in the right contact of the person you are looking for.”

She goes on to explain that at the other shows they attended such as the O’Cannabiz show in Toronto, “they were the booth for the four plant grower, for the everyday person.”

Tickets for the Expo can be bought online for $20. It runs from 10:00am to 6:00pm 10 University Street, Baysville.
