Muskoka Lakes Mayor places first in arm wrestling championship

Muskoka Lakes Mayor Alice Murphy has proved she has muscle. On the weekend she took part in the Port Carling Arm Wrestling Tournament as part of the 47th Annual Port Carling Winterfest. She ended up placing first in the women’s right hand, lightweight class, and second in the women’s left hand, lightweight category. “She definitely showed some great promise as an arm wrestler,” said Muskoka arm wrestling champion Ashley Maher. “I think it was a great surprise to everyone at the festival to see her roll up her sleeves and take on the challenge.” The weekend event was a two-day test of skill and strength for participants of all age groups. Though youth arm wrestling competitions were held in previous years at Winterfest, this year was the first time an adult category was added.
