Dysfunctional Potter Demonstrates Her Craft at Heron’s Nest Gallery

July 8, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Artist, Naomi Frohlich describes herself as a dysfunctional potter. Rather than creating table cookware, she molds and hand-builds animals and other non-functional pieces from clay. On Saturday, July 8, stop by Heron’s Nest Studio Gallery, 95 Muskoka Road, Bracebridge, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm to watch Frohlich bring a batch of clay to life.Several years ago, when Naomi decided to take art classes, she became fascinated with texture and form. After trying several different media, she started classes in clay in 2003 and knew she had found her medium.
As an outdoor enthusiast, the potter is drawn to sculpting wildlife, especially those observed so often in the forests of northern Ontario. Capturing the different gestures and poses of these animals has become a favorite pastime. Her collection of animal sculptures includes bears, wolves, lynx, foxes, moose, turtles, fish, and deer.
Naomi Frohlich’s work is available at Heron’s Nest Studio Gallery in Bracebridge and Textures Craftworks and Gooderham Gallery in Hamilton, as well as Grace Gallery in Brantford.
