Muskoka Concert Band’s Spring Performance
May 25, 2024 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$20Our Around the World Concert is our annual spring concert and this year are taking an exciting musical tour that features music from all across the globe – from Canada to the UK and Europe to the US, South America, Africa and even Polynesia! And as a special treat, in co-operation with St. John Ambulance we are reintroducing the St. John Ambulance Canadian Centennial March that was written by Canadian composer James Gayfer in 1982. You might even get to meet one of their local Therapy dogs.
As we work our way Around the World you’ll hear folk music like the wonderful arrangement of Donkey Riding by Canadian Don Coakley, Evangeline which is two Cajun songs arranged by Michael Story, and the magnificent Irish Tune from County Derry. For those who love classical music, we have the lively On the Trail from the Grand Canyon Suite by Ferde Grofe and Dvorak’s Slavonic Dance No 7. and we will feature our percussionists in Africa: Ceremony, Song and Ritual by the American band composer Robert W. Smith.
And what concert would be complete without some great show music? This year we have some great medleys from animated movies that show off the talent of Lin-Manuel Miranda in the music from Encanto and Moana.
It’s a concert you won’t want to miss!
Tickets are $20 (children 12 and under free) and are available from Eventbrite (credit card) or at the door (cash only).
